the nottingham education trust

The Nottingham Education Trust is a registered charity and exists to support young people, under the age of 21 and permanently resident in the City of Nottingham, to pursue activities outside of formal education, particularly in Music & the Arts, the Sciences, Languages, Travel and Cultural Experiences, Sports and Outdoor and Adventurous pursuits, who would otherwise not have the opportunity.

Our Key Initiatives

We’re dedicated to helping youth pursue their passions.

Travel & Culture

Trustees are keen to encourage independent travel and encourage young people to pursue experience beyond the confines of this island. To this end they have supported young people on volunteering projects in Ghana, the Philippines, Nicaragua, USA, Germany, Spain, France to name but a few. One bursary holder sought funding to do ecological research in Greenland during his university vacation and another represented her City and Country speaking at the United Nations Youth Assembly.

Arts

The Trust has helped to encourage young people to pursue their interests in a wide range of Arts areas, including Music, both classical and contemporary, Dance, in all its forms, Photography, Painting, Sculpture, Graphics and Printmaking, Writing and Theatre.

Sciences

The Trust has given bursaries to young people for a variety of personal projects, from computer building to environmental research and conservation.

Sports

The Trust has supported young people representing England and Great Britain in sports as diverse as Ice Hockey, Water Polo, Triathlon, Canoeing, Basketball, BMX and Athletics. But at the same time, have encouraged others just starting out in their sporting journey to attend matches and tournaments around the County and country.

Outdoor & Adventure

Duke of Edinburgh award at bronze, Silver and Gold level have seen regular bursary support, but also Outward Bound activities, Archaeological digs, Climbing, Forestry and Mountain Rescue courses. Trustees are willing to consider any activity considered worthwhile and for which the applicant makes a good case.
